President Thein Sein presents Excellence Awards to outstanding persons

President Thein Sein of Myanmar held 'President's Excellence Award Presentation Ceremony' for the very first time in his administrative term at capital Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday to praise outstanding performers in their respective fields, the state media reported.


A dozen of persons including monks, traders and entrepreneurs received the awards. President said the ceremony is to honour those who contributed their excellent performance in their respective sectors for the development of the country and socio-economic status of the people.


Sidagu Sayardaw Dr Nyanissara and Dr Bhaddanta Saykeinda won the awards for making great strides in religious and social matters. A monastic high school in Mandalay, a unified organization of multi religions and a school for the deaf and dumb were also included in the award list.


Thein Myint from Bago region received the best farmer award at the ceremony, and Ye Kyaw Swar Aung Hla was awarded as he put his life at stake for the sake of the public.


Aung Ko Win of leading Kanbawza Bank won the best tax payer award, as his bank paid tax about 6015 million kyats (US$6.8m) during the fiscal year ended last month. Meanwhile, Zaw Moe Win of ACE Company and tycoon Zaw Zaw of Max Myanmar were also given top tax payer prizes as the former paid tax 4755 million kyats (US$5.4m) and the latter 2677 million kyats (US$3m).


Chit Khaing of Golden Delta Co Ltd got the best exporter award, and Kyaw Win of National Wood Industry Ltd did the best value-added manufacturer award.


President Thein Sein presented the awards to the best agricultural entrepreneur, livestock breeder, fishery product manufacturer, sports person, small enterprise and medium enterprise respectively.


Thein Sein said the prize presentation ceremony is aimed at producing highly qualified human resources, and encouraging the development of private sector which is the key driving force of the country's economy. He noted that nation building will be possible only through the people's strength.
